Homemade Belgian Waffles

by Ashley Mullen Leave a Comment

A few weeks ago I got a new waffle maker. I didn’t spend a lot on it because I wasn’t too sure how much it would get used, but my kids are loving homemade Belgian waffles everyday it seems.

Homemade Beligan Waffles

*This most may contain affiliate links. Please see my disclosure policy for more information.*

I have tried a lot of recipes already looking for the perfect one. In my trails I’ve made a recipe that tasted eggy… eww! I have made some great ones too. Including this recipe that I’m sharing with you today.

What you need:

  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups of flour
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 3/4 cup milk

How to make Homemade Beligan Waffles

Because we don’t want egg tasting waffles, so start by beating the eggs really well. Add in your sugar and oil, and mix it really well. Add in salt and baking soda.

Alternate in adding flour and milk into the bowl while mixing.

While the flour and milk are mixing in, I plug in my waffle maker getting it warmed up while I finish mixing.

I use a measuring cup to add my waffle batter to the waffle maker, this way I don’t overflow it. Your waffle maker instructions should tell you how much to add to prevent overflow.

I love waffles, so much more than pancakes, they hold the syrup in place for you, what other foods do that?! And these homemade Belgian waffles are so good, so fluffy, so filling.

This is another great recipe for kids to make on their own. It’s perfect in that they don’t have to worry about a hot stove or hot oven, and you can relax there too mom and dad.

You can add in chocolate chips or blueberries to individual waffles to add something special to your waffles, or leave them as they are, they are amazing!
