Learning About Circuits in Your Homeschool

by Ashley Mullen Leave a Comment

Just because we don’t go to pubic school doesn’t mean that after-school programs are off limits. My kids go on Friday’s to our local library for the after-school program and this past week was for the older grades, and my nine year old was actually the only one there as there was no school that day. Turned out perfect for us.

The circuit set we used involved conductor pens. It was not what I was expecting, and so fun! By drawing her own circuits and learn how it works. Kids truly know how to do things like this without much help, it blows my mind sometimes.

The Circuit Scribe sets come with instructions on how to make multiple circuits following their images to make some really cool circuits. But you can also make your own. We did both, a lot. Want to know a little secret? I had to have my nine year old show me how to get this to work. Kids know technology, they are like little ducks taking to water with it. The set we used was the Circuit Scribe and I completely recommend it!

The conductor pen, while specifically formulated for high conductivity and quick drying on standard paper, it can also be used on many surfaces with varying performance. Try on photo-paper for erasable circuits (by scratching with the side of a module to erase) which can come in handy!
