Valentine’s Day Missing Numbers Clip Cards

by Ashley Mullen Leave a Comment

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, are you doing any lessons around hearts, pink and red? We are going to have a little fun, just adding some themed lessons. Maybe your kids are practicing number orders, if so, this Valentine’s Day missing number clip card set is going to be perfect to add to your plans.

This set includes 36 cards covering numbers numbers 10-101 with different number patterns.

What you need:

  • cardstock
  • clothes pin
  • laminator

Valentine’s Day Missing Numbers Clip Cards

I love activities like this that are quick and easy to prepare. It makes it so much easier to focus on the fun part of learning rather than spending hours of my time preparing for each lesson.

You can make the cards self-correcting by placing a small dot on the back of each correct number before laminating. Then when your child has clipped a card, they can then flip it over to make sure that they answered correctly.

How To Use

Have your child place a clothes pin on the correct missing number for each card. You can find regular clothes at the local dollar store, or look there for smaller decorative clothes pins that you can often find in the craft section.

You can easily use these in your homeschool, great for morning baskets. But these are also good for public school or co-ops. Use them as math centers, for extra practice for those finished their lessons early, or indoor recess activity.

Celebrating Valentine’s Day in Our Homeschool

by Ashley Mullen Leave a Comment

Valentine’s Day might only be one little day out of the year, but sometimes we like to do it up big and have some red and pink fun in our homeschool and incorporate it into our lessons for a day. I like to make memories with my kids like this, and in ways that aren’t going to make me bend over backwards to do. Join us in celebrating Valentine’s Day in our homeschool this year.

Valentine’s Day Themed Day

Have a Valentine’s Day themed day, this year it does lands Sunday so pick a day that works for you, maybe the Friday can be fun, but still educational, lessons. Everything can be pink and red, and hearts.

One super fun, educational thing you can do is: bake some pink cupcakes! Another thing would be to wear pink or red, or purple, or any other color you think of when you think of Valentine’s Day.

Positive Hearts on the Door

I have friends that do this and it is so sweet. Each morning in February they write something positive on a paper heart and stick it to their kids’ bedroom doors. You might mention:

  • You are kind.
  • You have a beautiful smile.
  • You’re great at drawing.
  • You are a wonderful sister.
  • I love your sense of humor.
  • You give fantastic hugs.

Crafts!

My kids all love crafts, how about yours? Here are more than 20 crafts just for Valentine’s Day. Maybe pick one or two do and decorate with.

Send Out Some Love

Right now, everyone can use a little love in their lives. Your kids can send out some Valentines ahead of the day to be mailed and arrive for Valentine’s Day.

Take advantage of social media and send out some love there. There is definitely not enough love on social media. In the past we have made banners with a Happy Birthday written on them, and then shared it on Facebook tagging the birthday person, why not do that with on February 14th?

Themed Lesson Plans

If you want to make sure that you are still “homeschooling” even on a themed day, themed lesson plans are a great way to go. They are available in TeachersPayTeachers if you are looking for no prep lessons that you just print and go.
