Hi! I’m Ashley, mother of three, wife, homeschooler, and blogger. We are Martimers (Nova Scotia) at heart living in the prairies of Saskatchewan. We have decided that the ocean and woods of the martimes are calling us back and we’re working on getting back home now, it’s all one step at a time and the first step is to sell our lovely old farm house.
Here you can find tips for getting through the day, steps to getting the secular homeschool work and housework done, and how to not lose lose your cool too often. You can sign up for weekly email newsletter to keep up to date.
I write from the heart, I’m 100% honest that I don’t know everything, I am stumbling along just like the next person. I’m going to tell you when I screw up just the same as I do when I have found success, in fact Instagram is a looking glass into our everyday life, no filters, no edits.
We are secular homeschoolers now with three years under our belt. I want you to know that you aren’t alone in starting this journey, we’re stumbling along with homeschooling, with parenting three children, along with you! Here you can see that you aren’t the only one struggling through the day as a parent, as a homeschooler, as a wife.
Forgetful Momma started four years ago, while the focus has changed from an online journal to sharing our journey homeschooling our children through secular eclectic methods while keeping up with the housework and feeding my family. You can sign up for weekly email newsletter to keep up to date.
Why homeschooling? After a few months of my oldest going to public school for kindergarten, we came to the realization that we have been unschooling all along. She wasn’t being challenged, and rarely entertained by the things they were doing in class. 2015/2016 was our first official year homeschooling, but not our last as we’re in full swing of the 2017-2018 year with three kids willing and eager to learn.
We are a family of five. We are loud. We love each other.
We are:
Hubby – He supports our family as a Route Sales Rep with a large company. Playing guitar in his spare time. And, he rarely smiles for pictures.
Austin – Nine years old (March 2009). She is also a Monster High, princess, Lego loving girl, going into grade 4.
Brookland – Seven years old (May 2011). She is a ball of laughing-, singing-, dancing- energy. She loves Frozen, princesses, Barbie, and Lego. She’s very photo genetic, always wanting her picture taken. Going into grade 4.
Gauge – Four years old (November 2013). This little boy is giving me a run for my money. He love Spider-Man, Thomas the Train, and bugging his older sisters as he tries to keep up with them. Going into Kindergarten.
I love that picture of the three of them so much. I have jut realized after 2 years however, that my younger two are both wearing mismatched socks. I’m just impressed that they are wearing matching shoes. 🙂
