How to Plan a Backyard Summer Camp

With so much going on in the world, and a lot of closures, we are going to create some fun of our own this summer for, and with our kids. We love spending the summer playing in our yard and exploring our yard. We’re going to be having fun this summer with our own Backyard Summer Camp, and hope you’ll join us.

We are going to start this off with the planning. Plan to have fun this summer, plan what we are going to need each week so that you don’t have to scramble and run around trying to figure everything out. Let’s plan ahead.

Planning a Backyard Summer Camp

  • Decide on a theme.
  • Decide on how many different activities you want to do each day and/or week.
  • Decide on a budget!
  • Make sure you know what you can accomplish, don’t plan long days if you have other commitments (ie. work)

Let’s make sure that you and your kids have a great summer. No getting upset when things don’t go according to the plans. Sometimes, kids don’t like the one activity that you just knew they would love, and instead love that activity you planned to take 5 minutes. Kids right?

How to Schedule your Activities

How much time each day do you have for your summer camp?

Not all summer camps are day and night, all week long. There are camps that are just 3 day a week, there are morning only camps. Make your DIY backyard summer camp what you want, what fits your schedule and wants.

What Activities to Plan

I like to plan different levels of intensity through the week so that we have room to relax and go and do other things if something comes up. One way to have a relaxed summer is to follow this simple and relaxed schedule.
