What happens you find the best recipe to make for supper but you are missing just one ingredient, like teriyaki sauce? Here, we make it. This is a simple recipe to make, something you can make ahead of time, or when you need it.

I have a chicken recipe that is amazing and calls for teriyaki sauce. So I’m left making it. Each and every time. But you know what? Its easy and I have everything that I need on hand at all times. You just might too.

What you need:

  • 4 tbsp soy sauce
  • 6 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder (optional)

How to Make this Homemade Teriyaki Sauce

In a small sauce pan bring the soy sauce and sugar to a boil, add in garlic powder if you’d like.

In a small bowl combine the cornstarch and water.

Add the cornstarch mix into the sauce pan and whisk thoroughly. Reduce heat, and continue to stir until it reduces.

It will thicken up nicely.

Use it to drizzle over chicken, or for cooking and baking with as I often do. It is delicious over rice, coming from a person who detests white rice in a family of people who love it.

Homemade Teriyaki Sauce

Taco seasoning, bbq sauce, stir fry sauce and teriyaki sauce are up there too on the list of things I never have, either not enough or none at all. There for I make it when I need. Each is quite easy, the bbq sauce takes the longest, but only because it simmers for so long.
