It goes with everything. Any meal of the day. On the side, mixed in or wrapped around something. Bacon can make the distasteful taste great.
Each Sunday morning that we’re able to have breakfast together often included a side of bacon. Nothing like a breakfast of bacon, eggs, and toast, or bacon and pancakes.
Just over a month ago now though we stopped eating bacon. A heart attack happened to the one person we least expected it to happen to. Thank God it was a minor heart attack. My mother-in-law, who watches what she eats and exercises regularly. She is fine now and back to work. But it was an eye opener for everyone, especially to her immediate family and sons. It’s genetic.
We’ve been trying to be a bit more healthy now. And paying more attention to what is in the food we’re eating.
The first thing we found to replace regular bacon was sliced breakfast ham. It is amazing! Couldn’t believe how good it was. Also, much healthier when comparing them.
The second thing we have tried was turkey bacon, instead of regular pork bacon. I was pleasantly surprised that it too, is really good. And, again, much healthier.
We haven’t given up bacon all together, but the fatty (delicious) stuff will not be joining us for breakfast anymore.
