We aren’t big on celebrating Valentine’s Day, but I usually pick up a little something for our girls just the same. This year, I did not. I admit I sort of forgot, but I had other plans on my mind. First thing this morning after saying Happy Valentine’s to Austin she ran back into her bedroom and then back out. She happily presented me with flowers.
A beautiful bouquet of flowers from her doll house. I did tear up and had to work very hard not to cry. She is such a loving thoughtful little girl.
I have seen many pictures on Pinterest of kids hair in little heart like this. How long it will last I don’t know. I’d love to know the secret behind it, hair spray maybe? Austin was happy to have hearts in her hair so that is all that matters.
Today we are forgetting about Valentine’s Day, and having a little (present-less) birthday party for Austin. Since we’re moving right before her actual birthday she won’t be able to have friends over so I thought on the last day that I have a house full we’d celebrate.
She woke up to a living room full of balloons – head rush for me last night. We’ll have pizza, garlic fingers and donair sauce for lunch, and a heart cake for afternoon snack.
We’ll of course do it all over again for her actual birthday in March. I can’t believe she is going to be 4!
Do you do anything special for Valentine’s Day, either with or without your children?
