Wanna save money for the holidays? Wanna be greener? Just want to stop spending so much money on stuff you can make yourself?
I was amazed at how much laundry I do a week when I stopped to think about it. That isn’t including diapers. Laundry detergent, even with coupons and on sale, is expensive. Look around on the web I put together my own recipe, powdered. Though not my usual preference, I didn’t want a bucket sitting around nor a bunch of jugs as space is limited.
1 bar of Ivory soap, grated
1/2 cup of washing soda
1/2 cup of borax
I also put it in my blender to make sure that the soap was small enough and it was mixed well.
We, or I, go through a lot of all purpose cleaner on my counters, table and A’s table in the living room where she eats breakfast and lunch and plays.
1/2 tsp washing soda
2 tsp borax
2 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp vinegar
1/2 tsp natural dish detergent (op)
2 cups HOT water
In spray bottle, start cleaning. I use this everywhere now, kitchen and bathroom.
Have a dishwasher? Use this instead:
Washing soda and borax. A 2:1 ratio. Add lemonade mix, I had to play around a bit with the right amount, and put vinegar in your rinse aid spot.
Hubby still doesn’t know that it is homemade dishwasher detergent.
