I once again became so involved with the little ones that I forgot to take out something for supper this morning. Which means my DF will be very happy to smell his fave meal when he walks in the house. However, pizza means making sure that a section stays cheese-free.
A is lactose intolerant. Never before did I stop to think about what has dairy (or lactose) in it. We have been aware of this for about 5 months now.
Last weekend my future mother-in-law was about to give A a bowl of ice cream, I stepped in her path and she looks at me and says “She can have ice cream right?” Me: “Ummm … NO. She can’t have dairy products.” Her: “Shit, she can have a piece of the cake though.” Me: “No, it has milk ingredients in it.” My DF commented that she could have a little piece of cake, to which I replied “Are you going to stay up tonight and hold her while she is crying because her bum is blistered red and extremely painful?” Surprisingly enough, that ended the converstation.
I am happy to say that A didn’t seem to notice that she didn’t have cake or ice cream, she was much more interested in the apple slices that she was eating.
This bugs the crap out of me! How do I get her to understand that A cannot have dairy?
