Its Been A Year of Cloth Diapers

While stuffing diapers this evening after supper I realized that it was one year today that Brookland spent the day in cloth diapers for the first time. Up until June 15, 2011 she had only worn a diaper or two a day because that’s all that fit her, and even at this point we didn’t have many fitting her.

One of the first diapers we had that fit, I had received for a review and just wanted to share an update. Now, its been almost a year, and it was washed everyday for the first few months, then every other day. This diaper has been well loved! [Read more...]

Yeast Infection Rash – Just Another Diaper Washing Day

I knew when we started with cloth diapers that it wouldn’t be without its bumps in the road, and we’ve had a couple now. Our biggest dilemma up to now was repelling.

Now baby girl Brookland has had a sore bum on and off for just about two months, 2 months! This Momma has felt horrible, it started after we switched to formula, so naturally we thought she was having a reaction to it, and tried a different kind. Her little bum got better, then worse.

Friday morning, at 9:15 I was able to get through to the pediatrician’s office, at 10am. I guess I should add that we got about 6 inches of snow Thursday night and early Friday morning. We all had to get dressed and out of the house. We ended up being 15 minutes late, but thankfully in this case, these doctor is usually running behind.

He diagnosed her bum as a yeast infection rash. Some cream was prescribed and we were sent home. From reading other CD blogs I know that my diapers need to be cleaned really well to make sure that once her rash is gone it doesn’t come back.

All diapers have been washed in very hot water with baking soda and detergent, the first rinse with vinegar followed by two more rinses. I also dried them in the dryer only, something I never do.

Have you had this problem? What did you do?

Cloth Diaper Dilemma

What I am about to show you has me just about crawling up the walls. I have washed with Dawn, rewashed without Dawn, rinsed (many times) and rinsed with vinegar twice.

This is still our out come. This water had been sitting there for minutes while I got my camera. I pray that the load I have in the washer are fine so that I have diapers for the morning otherwise we’ll be heading to town for ‘sposies.

If anyone can help, please do.
