I want to bake! I don’t want to eat it all though. We haven’t been baking nor eating the yummy sweet goodness that comes from baking all that much, aside from a little at Christmas. Which is great for us. Then I made cookies for the kids. I’m not great at making cookies but I am great at eating cookies. Love peanut butter, hate nutella. I figured peanut butter and nutella cookies would be okay to make, eat one or two and I’d be done with them. And that is exactly, what… I… did. Okay, maybe I ate a lot few more than one or two.
In the mood to bake, a couple of the boys I watch over I thought I’d make them a New Years Eve snack. I found a recipe online for some cookies, but oh my waist line, I couldn’t bare to make them. I wrote the recipe down and stared at it wondering if I was really going to eat feed these to my kids. Then I started subtracting a little and subbing. Maybe I should have left the recipe alone, then maybe I wouldn’t have enjoyed them so much?
Here is what I made:
- 3/4 c unsweetened apple sauce
- 2 egg whites (whites because I used the yolks earlier & didn’t want to waste)
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 3/4 c brown sugar
- 3/4 c white sugar
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 2 2/3 c flour
- 2/3 c peanut butter
- 1/3 c Nutella
I mixed everything in in that order (except for the baking soda, I admit I forgot it until the very end. Not my finest move.) Now you don’t want to over mix it. I did, but only because of the a fore mentioned goof up.
Place in preheated oven at 350 for 10-12 minutes. Then give them away, run and hide until your family eats them all or something. ‘Cause they are good even if you don’t like Nutella.

These sound wonderful. I’m going to try them out. I love peanut butter and Nutella. I aslo like the fact that they are made with applesauce and egg whites. Visiting from SITS!
Love this idea and combination! There is a place we go eat sometimes that serves a sandwich where they use toasted bread and put peanut butter on one side and nutella on the other and then bananas in the middle …. and I love it! I think I need to try your recipe too! Visiting from SITS!

I am not a huge baker but these sound good. I love Nutella, even though I try to steer clear and I am waging war on my fat ass this year so I may bake them and take them into school for my daughters’ classes.

I love nutella and peanut butter, so when I saw your link on Tough Cookie Mommy, I clicked right away. Then, I was so pleasantly surprised that these are not loaded with sugar. What a bonus!
