At the beginning of the year I made my 2012 Wish List. One of the things I was wishing for was a new laptop. I knew it was a big long reach considering when I wrote it we were flat broke. Well, it didn’t happen.
It could though. It could because I received enough Christmas money from family members not wanting to mail gifts out here, to buy a new one. But do I want to drop all that money on a new laptop? No, not when I really want/need new clothes.
So right now I am sitting on my couch, keyboard in my lap, mouse beside me, using our desktop, which is connected to the TV. {I’m getting a bit dizzy from looking down at the keyboard back up to the TV. Sorry for typos!}
My laptop is currently on a time out for fear of our rental house burning to the ground. Ah, yea, that’s right. Use laptop = burn down house.BUT only until the end of the week, maybe th beginning of next if I am unlucky.
For all my laptop’s faults
- white screen of death
- power plug not working to charge
- power plug melting chargers
- 2 of 4 USB ports not working
- CD/DVD drive not working
- left mouse button not working
it’s still a good laptop. Fast, does what I need it to do, I know how to use it for the most part. And heck, if that’s all that’s wrong with it after being with me for over four years now, I’d say it’s doing rather well.
Hubby has fixed the white screen of death problem and hopefully in the next few days will fit the power plug and USB ports. All will be well again.
But maybe I should leave a new laptop on my wish list for 2013… what do you think?
Do you have something that you just fix multiple times instead of replacing?

Oh, I feel your laptop pain! I once went over ten years(1996 -2007) without a computer upgrade. Then my ancient desktop could no longer do anything beyond basic typing. So I had to upgrade. I still keep it around, and plan to get some ‘important’ files’ off it… one day.
