If you follow me on Facebook you may have seen a post where I said that I had deleted some pictures off my camera for post. Well here is the post now. I guess it’s for the best, I didn’t realize how many pictures I had taken and I was getting a hand cramp editing these as is. 🙂
My house full of kids love playdough, though Brookland still has some not eating learning to do still. But making it myself I’m not too worried about her eating and I’m quite sure that store bought is non-toxic.
One evening I made some playdough – strawberry, chocolate, vanilla and moon mist. Yum. Moon mist was plain purple playdough for a lack of a scent, though afterward going my cupboards I wish I had chosen mint. For chocolate I added a heaping tablespoon of cocoa to the recipe, and simply vanilla extract for vanilla.
I set up my coffee table, covered with an old curtain, to look like a self serve ice cream parlor. I had a bowl, spoon, ice cream cone and a bowl of “sprinkles” set out for each child. All play toys from the play kitchen. Though for sprinkles I had cut up some paper since this wasn’t planned well in advance.
They had fun! I mean after an hour, sprinkles/paper everywhere, four flavours of playdough all mixed together fun. Best part was, they had no idea what I was up to while setting it up. They were playing in the toy room, and then surprise!
We smelt each one, guessing what the scent was and therefore what type of ice cream. There was no fighting over anything. A great success I think and I’m going to plan for some more playdough dramatic play.

Love this!!!
Now that has to be the cutest idea ever! You are so creative!!! I love it
{Melinda} What a great mommy you are! Lucky kids. 🙂 I must admit, I was NOT a fan of playdough when my kids were young. So messy — they always mixed the colors. Looking back, I wish I would have just let them have playdough. Good grief. They are only that age once and it goes all too quickly. Good for you for seizing the moment and embracing the messy!
It does drive me crazy that my kids mix the colours, I admit. Maybe Hubby is right and I do have some OCD. I like the colours separate and in their proper containers.
Great idea. Sound so good, you would want to eat it LOL
I remember those days! I have teens now 🙂
I love it. I’ll have to do that with my little guy!
Hope he enjoys it! I need to think up something similar to this one. They had so much fun.
