Baked cotton balls. Smash with hammer. Hard on the outside, soft on the inside. Right?
I’d seen these on Pinterest awhile ago and wanted to try them. Silly me didn’t pin or even save them to my favourites. Pinterest hates me so searching for them didn’t work I had to wait until I happened across them again. Then I finally found them. No lying, I jumped up and made them. Kids were napping so it was the perfect time plus a fun surprise for when they got up.
Mix equal parts water and flour – use food colour if you’d like.
Dip and roll those cotton balls in there, covering them.
Bake on a greased pan at 300 for 45 minutes.
They will bake/stick together if they are touching.
Aren’t they beautiful?
Since we are lacking outside toys, and I deemed it too cold to water we took our cotton balls outside.
Now here is where I did something wrong.
Yup, they look hard like they are suppose to be, but I can easily squeeze and squish them.
It also took a bit of force to rip them open.
The kids had fun and that is all that matters. They weren’t expecting anything so it was great fun!
I do want to link this to Play Create Explore, it was her post that I finally found!
Now I have a question for you.
How much food colour do you typically use for things? I used probably 12-15 drop in a 1/4c -1/4c of water & flour and these is as dark as my blue got.
Have a great weekend!

whoa what a great idea…going to have to try that babe.

That’s generally the amount of food coloring that I use whenever I’m making something, particularly icing. It seems like a lot, but I think that’s what it takes.
