My beautiful Austin has had a sookie (pacifier) since she was a couple days old. She just liked to suck, it calmed her, helped her sleep and most importantly, I got to sleep.
However, the time has come for it to hit the road. She turned 2 a couple weeks ago. So, this momma decided that on Monday there would be no sookie at nap time. You can laugh at me, I’m laughing at myself right now. Cause that went over real well.
After sitting beside her bed for an hour rubbing her back, that kid won, she got her sookie, but she still didn’t go to sleep. Usually, it might take her 30 minutes to fall asleep for a nap. Not then, nope, no way was she going to sleep, which she told me. So up we got.
We live 25 minutes from town, and Austin was not allowed to drift off to sleep to or from town.
She went to bed Monday night without a sookie. And slept, rather well, fussed a little bit through the night but it wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be.
Yesterday, at nap time, she had a sookie. I need for her to nap, she needs to nap.
Last night, she asked for her sookie at bedtime, and then went to sleep without a fuss and slept all night without it. WOOHOO!!! (She is currently working on 12 hours of sleep right now, which is more than normal.) So we still have a nap time sookie but I can handle it, for now. One thing at a time right?
